THE
HAMPTONS , NEW YORK
by
Heather Buchanan
The Hamptons are like a woman who looks equally
beautiful barefoot in jeans or dressed in heels
and sequins. Depending on your boating mood,
you can head out the Shinnecock Canal for an
exciting ride on the Atlantic Ocean or slip
into a protected cove in Three Mile Harbor
for a peaceful sojourn. The land is just as
versatile with a rich soil sprouting crops
in wide open fields. Several vineyards are
reaching their maturity, giving France and
California a run for their merlot money. Wine
tastings, tours, and live music entice the
public to celebrate the vines. Start your day
with the farmer who is picking tomatoes and
sunflowers fresh from the field for his roadside
stand and end it at a fine restaurant sipping
cognac next to a media magnate.
