GREENPORT ,
NEW YORK
by John Galluzzo
When you pull into a harbor on the East Coast
and see the name "Bootleg Alley" on a local
map, well, you know this is the town for you.
Any community that has kept alive the memories
of the Prohibition Era - you know, the Volsted
Act, he Coast Guard chasing rumrunners by night
as the big sailing ships of Rum Row patiently
waited just outside U.S. waters with crgoes
full of illegal liquor - has got to be a fun
place.
