ROCK
HALL, MARYLAND
You've probably never heard of August Heinefield
or Captain Jesse Urie, but chances are you'll
know who they are when you leave Rock Hall.
Their story rests securely preserved in the
Rock Hall Museum, specifically in their delicately
and ornately carved working waterfowl decoys.
Heinefield, Urie and a few others mastered the
art of the wooden decoy, a duck hunting tool
that has now given way to modern plastics, making
their work all the more valuable.
