BOSTON
HARBOR, MASACHUSETTS
by John Galluzzo
Boston is a city aglow. It’s amazing
what breaking an 86-year-old “curse” can
do for a city, state and region.
For one year only, New England’s biggest city has given its favored baseball-playing
sons a break from chasing the trophy, because in 2004, for the first time since
1918, the Boston Red Sox won the World Series, breaking the perceived “Curse
of the Bambino.” Throw in three Super Bowl wins in four years for the
local National Football League franchise, the New England Patriots, and you’ll
understand why Boston’s sports fans seem to be walking on air this summer.
